Being well prepared for your trip to Pakistan will help ensure you have an unforgettable time. Here’s a few key items you’ll want to pack before you go.

Bring a backpack or rucksack along. It’s easy to carry when you are out and about, especially if you are using public transportation.

Clothing

Summer months range from April to September. Cool cotton clothing will be enough except in higher elevations, where you may need a jacket or a sweater. Women should wear loose fitting pants and avoid sleeveless shirts. Monsoon season is between June and August. If you are traveling during this time, you’ll need to bring a raincoat and an umbrella. In October through March, you’ll need a jacket or a sweater. You may need a heavier coat in higher elevations. You should also be sure to wear a pair of comfortable walking shoes.

Bring any medications and toiletries that you may need. It never hurts to bring pain relievers, altitude sickness medication, and medication for upset stomach, just in case. In winter, you should also bring something for a cough or cold. You can purchase your toiletries in Pakistan, but it is cheaper and more convenient to bring what you will need with you. Don’t forget to pack sunscreen, insect repellent, and band aids.

Pakistan is strict about the types of electronics they let into the country. Things like cameras and cell phones should be fine. However, some people try to go through with things like microwaves. If customs doesn’t like what you are bringing in, they may decide to fine you for it.
