Date of Trip: December 2003
booked my trip last march on priceline got a great deal. Drove from erie to cleveland spent the night a Marriott north very nice people , clean room .only 2 hours from erie to cleveland but with weather here wanted to make sure we got to airport on time and well rested. our plane took off late because of winter snow storm in dallas landed late but the held connecting plane to las vegas had to run to make that then couldn’t take off had to get deiced and wait in line to take off. so we landed later in las vegas took 11 hours to get from cleveland to vegas long day .
then we went to hertz to pick up our car which was booked as a package and we upgraded to premium he didn’t have any of those left we told him you had our money and order since march that’s a lot of time there should be no reason that we should pay for an upgrade (60) a day extra. told him to give my the money back and i would get a car from another agency. so all of a sudden he has authority to give a suv at no charge they tried this same thing 2 years ago in tampa i would not rent from them again
we then found our way to a walgreens on the way to hotel. purchased a 10 dollar coffee pot because we are coffee drinkers and i read that it was expensive and they don’t have them in the rooms.if you drive to mgm make sure you use valet parking at least for that day they will all bags to the room . we also purchased case of water and pepsi for the room they also don’t have the minifrig in the room i bought a soft rolling cooler used it as my carry on on the plan and for drinks in the room.
we purchased ma 3 day bus pass to see a lot of the hotels on the strip .drove down to freemont street had a great time. we have family in las vegas that’s why we rented the car spent 3 days visiting with them . also went to red river valley was a great site to see.lots of nice pictures. we went to madam troursads wax museum my husband did not want to pay 25 a person so when we walked away man asked us why we didn’t go in my husband said too much money he said he would let us in for 15 each so you can do some bargaining in las vegas , i have purchased coupon books online and one from ebay the ones from ebay were coupons you could find all over the strip and in the cabs . the coupons for free slots are a rip off the one for hooters was for 200 dollars they do give it to you but you have to use it on certain machines and make 5 dollar bets and you can only win on 3 certain spins took all of 6 minutes to use the 200 and we left there . treasure island will give you free 10 dollars on your players card for you to use anyway you want that was a nice surprise.we only used 2 of the buffet coupons and we used them at arizona charlies .with the coupon and the players card discount breakfast for 2 was 5.96 . we stayed at arizona charlies before and would stay there again . we just wanted to stay on strip once. we also had dinner with all the family and sams town they buffet was very good and each adult got one free glass of wine or beer they have a waterfall inside and there was a very nice christmas light show with snow falling down on us.make sure if you stay at mgm that you go to players club each morning for comps we had dinner at wolf gang pucks and breakfast at the buffet. Flew home new years good flight home .
