Anaheim Things to Do
Anaheim is known as the amusement park capital in California. For families and fans of Disney, Anaheim is a hub of fun and excitement.
Disneyland is by far Anaheim’s biggest tourist attraction. The park offers rides for visitors of all ages in addition to food and souvenir shops. Visiting in fall and spring are advisable if you want to avoid long lines that come with summer and winter holidays. It is best to arrive early in the day, right when the park opens, if you want to take advantage of shorter lines. Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, Space Mountain, and the Matterhorn are by far the main draws to the park.
Though commonly associated with Disneyland, California Adventure is a separate park. Visitors report that the park has more wild rides and that the lines don’t tend to be as long on busy park days. Make sure to utilize fast passes when visiting the park, especially if you intend to ride the newer attractions. Soaring Over California and Paradise Pier are two must-sees in the park.
The Gardenwalk may be one of Anaheim’s least crowded attractions, but that is only because there is so much to do in the city. It is a fantastic shopping area with a luxurious movie theater and plenty of stores. It is just a stone’s throw away from Disneyland and just a short walk from most hotels in the area. Major restaurants that front the Gardenwalk include Bubba Gump Shrimp, Cheesecake Factory, and Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion. Retail boutiques at the center cater to women’s fashions.
