Ask your hotel for toiletry kits if your bag gets lost

With the liquid-and-gel ban, travelers have gotten in the habit of packing their toiletries in checked luggage. But if your bag gets delayed or lost, you’re stuck without the essentials. You don’t have to go out and buy a slew of new products, however. Just ask your hotel what it can offer.

Most hotels will have soaps, shampoo, and lotion in each guest room. But several chains make an extra effort to ensure guest comfort.

Best Western, for example, has razors, shaving foam, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, sanitary napkins, and sewing kits for no charge, 24 hours per day, by request at its front desk.

Kimpton Hotels offers a Forgot It? We’ve Got It! program including hair styling products, sunscreen, spray wrinkle remover, and more. Many items are free, while others are available for a nominal cost.

With Wyndham‘s “We Remembered What You Forgot” initiative, every hotel is required to have deodorant, feminine hygiene products, shaving cream and razors, toothpaste, and other toiletries on hand, free of charge.

On a recent trip to Baltimore, my friend realized she left her toothbrush at home. When she inquired about a gift shop or nearby drug store at the front desk of the Hilton Garden Inn, the clerk offered her a new one at no charge.

And it’s always a good idea to take a few travel-sized, [% 1623760 | | TSA-friendly toiletries %] in your carry-on bag, just in case.
