Bikini Beach, a long stretch of sand in the front of Bally’s Hotel, is a popular hangout in the summer months. If you want to learn about the history of the area, head to Boardwalk Hall. From there, you can explore the rows of taffy shops, restaurants, and amusement rides.

Ocean Life Center and Lighthouse

Ocean Life Center is an aquarium in the historic Gardner’s Basin neighborhood, along the waterfront. The aquarium is home to several types of fish, coral, and marine life. On rainy days, the Ocean Life Center is a family friendly alternative to the beach. Absecon Lighthouse is a short drive from the aquarium and holds the title of the tallest lighthouse in New Jersey. Adults must pay $7 to climb the 227 steps to the top. From there, you can see the Boardwalk, the beach, and most of downtown Atlantic City.
