Things to Do in Goa: Baga Beach
Situated between India’s Baga River and Calangute Beach, Baga is clean and fairly quiet. Reserve a sun bed to catch some rays, buy a trinket or get a massage.
Dining and Shopping
There are plenty of beach cafes to choose from offering Goan dishes and some staple European ones, and there are plenty of decorated shacks with a large variety of food and drinks. There’s a small shopping area just before you hit the beach that can come in handy if you don’t have a towel, run out of batteries, or forgot your swimsuit.
Water Sports
The biggest attraction at Baga is water sports. The water is clean and free of rocks, and there’s no shortage of vendors trying to attract your attention selling Banana Boat rides and Parasailing. You will have to sign a waiver of liability in case of injury. Bargain with the vendors to get a better price than what they initially ask – it’s expected here. There are a few guys who will rent out jet skis and will give boat “ferries” to Anjuna beach which is just on the other side of the hill.
Fire Shows
Stay after dark for a chance to see fire performers. Some twirl balls, some jump through flaming hoops, and some of them walk on a tight rope with a fire pot on their head. Fireworks are lit every night. Sometimes they’re not the best quality, but the locals have fun setting them off at the beach in front of the cafes. It’s like your very own pyrotechnic show.
