[% 11986 | | Carnival %] has joined forces with Orizonia, a Spanish travel company, to create a new cruise ship brand serving Spanish travelers. The new line will be called Iberocruceros, and its fleet will consist of Orizonia’s current two ships and Carnival’s Celebration.
Yes, the 1,486-passenger Celebration, one of Carnival’s oldest ships, will be leaving the Carnival fleet. As I reported in a previous [% 2413313 | | blog entry %], the Fascination is replacing the Celebration on its Caribbean routes out of Jacksonville. If you’re a Celebration fan, you can still squeeze in one last cruise before the ship goes into dry dock in spring 2008.
One last note—I find it ironic, but not surprising, that the new Iberocruceros line, marketed at Spanish cruisers, will be flagged in Italy.
