Date of Trip: February 2014
My wife and I joined the Crown Princess in Forth Lauderdale on the 16 Feb. ’14 for a 49 day cruise around South America finishing in Los Angeles.
The cruise itself was great as we visited over 20 ports of call. The most interesting were Barbados where we went snorkelling with the turtles and after we enjoyed rum punch,. Rio De Janero arriving on the 2nd day of Carnival was hectic just getting around by bus. The trip via train to see Christ the Redeemer was well work it. The Brazelian know how to party with street closures singing and dancing through the night. Visits to Buenos Aires and Montivedio walking around and sampling the local brewage. Seeing the King Penguin on the Falkland Islands was a highlight as was the 3 hour jeep ride to see them and the freezing weather. Ushuaia (Argentina) the most southerly city in the south hemisphere doing a tour with a excellent tour guide into the highest peak was a eye openner.
Amalia Glacier was well worth it as the Captain of the ship took us right up to/near the wall of the glacier a most pleasant experience.
In Lima (capital of Peru) on tour to see the dancing horses and the excavation of the Inca site allowed us to gain a understanding Latin America. Finally Puerto Valliata (Mexico) horse back riding and a beach BBQ was possibly our best tour. This lasted almost 8 hours. There were many in between ports stop and all were very good.
On Board the ship itself were 3000 passengers with over 300 Aussies. We had a cabin with a balcony on deck 12. Leslie the room steward did a very good job looking after us. The cabin was very spacious having a hanging wardrobe.
The only negative comment we would make was the Cruise Director. She had no idea about organising on board entertainment for the passengers. The daily on board Patter contain mostly about art auctions, jewellry and massage sales. After numerous request we got trivia and carpet bowls. The cruise was devided into three segiment thus those who did the whole cruise got repeat movies and lectures etc over the final two segiments.
I did write my dis-satisfaction about the Cruise Director to Captain Foster the Master of the Ship. I did remind him is this lady Lisa Ball is Cruise Director of a Princess ship we book on we wont did the trip on that ship.
