Compare hotel rates and save when booking at Hotwire

Hotwire is offering a “double the difference” price guarantee on its hotel rates. If you make a hotel reservation at Hotwire and, within 48 hours of booking, find a lower price for your entire stay (at the same hotel on the same dates), Hotwire will give you a refund of twice the difference. Find a better deal somewhere else and you can potentially save even more money on the rate you’ve already booked with Hotwire.

Hotwire is unlike most other hotel booking websites. First, you select the dates of your stay, the number of rooms you need, the quality of the hotel you want, and one or more neighborhoods in your chosen city. Then, Hotwire will quote a specific price on a hotel. But you don’t find out the name of the hotel or its exact location until you agree to book at that rate.

The price guarantee can be a great way to ensure you’re paying the lowest available price when you book at Hotwire. In order to receive a refund for the difference in rates, you need to e-mail Hotwire at DoubletheDifference@hotwire.com within 48 hours of when you make a reservation. Then, you must reply to the form Hotwire sends you within three days. After Hotwire confirms the availability of the lower rate, you will receive on your credit card a refund of twice the difference in the rates, within 10 business days.

Hotwire defines the rates it uses for comparison very explicitly, so be sure to read the fine print carefully. According to the rules of the promotion, “All comparisons will be made between Hotwire’s aggregate rate for the customer’s entire stay before taxes and booking fees on the one hand and the hotel’s aggregate published pre-tax rates for each night of the customer’s stay on the other.”

Please note that the price guarantee does not apply to discounted rates such as AAA or AARP rates, or to Hotwire rates posted after your purchase. There is a maximum of one hotel refund per household within a six-week period.
