Continental, Delta, United, and others to offer iPod connections

The Apple iPod explosion is creeping into the airline industry. Apple has teamed up with six airlines—Continental, Delta, United, Air France, Emirates, and KLM—to begin offering iPod capability onboard many of their planes.

Starting in 2007, travelers will be able to use in-seat connections to view videos and listen to music stored on their iPods. The connection will also charge iPods. In-seat iPod capability will only be available for regular iPods and smaller iPod Nanos, but won’t work with iPod Shuffles.

However, unless you fly in the forward cabins, you probably won’t be able to take advantage of the onboard iPod innovation. According to a report posted on USAToday.com, “The service will be available only in seats that have in-flight entertainment systems in place, typically first- or business-class seats.”
