Coronado Things to Do
When visiting beautiful Coronado, California, there is always something to see and do. From exploring the shops to enjoying the beach, you’ll love your time in this sleepy city.
Hotel Del Coronado
Coronado is just outside of San Diego. As you probably know, San Diego has perfect weather throughout the entire year. Based on how it is located along the Pacific Coastline, it is generally upper 70s every day, with a nice breeze and low humidity (it often can be 20 to 30 degrees cooler than Los Angeles, which is around a 90 minute drive in light traffic). Hotel Del Coronado is the crown jewel of the area, with an expansive private beach, several restaurants, clubs and attractions, all within the classically built hotel. Even if you do not stay at the hotel you can use the facility to help book boats and other water sport activities. If you are currently planning a vacation to the San Diego area, consider booking a stay with Hotel Del Coronado.
The Beach
The crowds here are thinner than in actual San Diego and up north in Los Angeles. If you want the smallest crowds possible you’ll want to visit during the week as it can fill up a bit during the weekend. Whenever you visit, you’ll have a relaxing stay, a beautiful blue ocean and comfortable, soft sand. It almost feels like a small, East Coast beach town, yet you’re actually in between two of the largest cities in the country.
Ferrylanding Market Place
The market place is an excellent destination to just walk and take in the shopping and restaurant options. There are a few chain restaurants, but for the most part these are all local food vendors. You’ll also find some of the best and freshest seafood right here. The small shops offer great opportunities to pick up gifts for friends back home as well.
Orange Avenue
If you’re more interested in the commercial shopping and restaurant options, you’ll want to visit Orange Avenue. This is in the downtown area of the city. You can also find the Museum of History and Art here, which is a fun little break from the sun, if you’re looking to give your skin a bit of a break.
Art in the Park
Not everything costs money in Coronado. This is one of the best free activities you can take in while exploring Coronado. It is also a fun activity to do with children. If you stop by the visitor center you can pick up a small map that shows you an enjoyable walkabout on the island. It will lead you pass the Coronado High School as through several public open spaces, all showcasing excellent works of public art. Some of the art is even done by the local students. All of the art is impressive, so make sure to take in this walk if you can.
