Way better than a hotel room, Free Spirit Spheres vacation rentals blow away any other accommodation we’ve ever seen in the uniqueness category. Suspended about 10 feet off of the ground, these self-contained bubbles have everything you need for an exciting overnight stay (except for a bathroom… you’ll have to climb down to access those). There are three round rooms for you to pick from, and they make the perfect alternative for people who hate camping.
If you can drag yourself out of your round room, the surrounding area is beautiful. Go caving or canoeing in Horne Lake Caverns, take a hike around the heart of the rainforests, or stroll along Qualicum Bay.
A warning: Don’t stay in a sphere if you get motion sick easily, as the spheres rock with the wind, and move whenever people inside do.
Where Is it? Near Qualicum Bay on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Fly to Vancouver International Airport (check rates) and take a ferry to the island.
Where to Stay? We like the newest sphere, Melody, which has five windows, built in speakers, a sink, and heating.
What Else Should I Know? Only people aged 16 and up can stay in the spheres.
Who’s it For? Adventurers, non-Acrophobics.
