Kakaduo National Park

There are a few different crocodile cruises. Some toss out food into the water so you can see these massive animals eat, while others simply point out the animals as you ride past. Whether feeding the crocodiles is the best practice remains up for debate as the crocs begin to move towards any boat, looking for food. George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens

The city is named for George Darwin, an astronomer and mathematician. Darwin’s tropical weather makes it perfect for growing flowers and other vegetation you won’t see anywhere else in the country. And this abundance is on brilliant display at George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens.

Bicentennial Park

This is a reminder that World War II did in fact take place on Australian soil. Australia was attacked in February of 1942 (only two months after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii). In fact, Japan actually took control of the small military area. The country’s fascinating history regarding the second World War isn’t one many outsiders know about. That is what makes just walking the paths through the park and reading about the wartime events enlightening.
