Why You Should Visit Providence
The capital of Rhode Island, Providence exudes big-city hipness alongside small-town New England charm. It's renowned for its local restaurants and a craft cocktail scene that will satisfy even the snobbiest foodie. The art scene thrives in Providence, too, and many of the city's museums offer free admission.
When to Visit Providence
Providence's signature event, WaterFire, occurs a few times per month from May to November. This free event features more than 80 bonfires, giving the city's rivers a magical glow. Street vendors and food carts line the riverbanks, contributing to the party atmosphere. The winter months see fewer visitors.
Average Providence Weather
Providence weather is mildest June through October, with warm temperatures and relatively dry weather. Foliage is on display in the fall, when temperatures are still fairly warm by New England standards. In the winter, prepare for cold temperatures made worse by the wind chill off of Providence’s rivers.
