Starwood’s systemwide “Triple Up” bonus-points offer ends on July 31, and to date there’s been no word of a successor campaign for late summer and early fall stays.
What Starwood has announced, however, is a double-points promotion for stays at one of the company’s 11 brands, Tribute Portfolio.
Offer Details
Between August 1 and October 31, Starwood Preferred Guest members can earn double points for stays at any of Starwood’s Tribute Portfolio hotels.
Registration is required, by October 16.
Deal or No Deal
As promotions go, double points is a ho-hum offer. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, but probably not a game-changer for most travelers.
The more significant downside of this promotion, though, is its limitation to Tribute Portfolio hotels. There are some lovely, distinctive properties in the group, to be sure. But there are only nine of them. It’s more like a handful than a portfolio.
A double-points promotion for nine hotels, out of Starwood’s worldwide network of more than 1,300 properties? It hardly seems worth promoting.
Starwood Preferred Guest members can only hope the next Starwood promotion is both more generous and more inclusive.
