Fantastic Cruise and Land Trip in Alaska

We took a 5 day pre cruise land tour as part of an Alaskan cruise with Celebrity in Sept 2014. Our guide was Debbie and our driver was Alice. They were a dynamic duo!!! very fun and entertaining.The coach was very comfortable and had a bathroom.

We met some great people in our group and continued to do things with them on the cruise portion. We went to several lodges for nights that were in the forest and along rivers They were stupendous. We had a 4 hour domed, train ride and had breakfast on the train. The dining was fantastic and the views were great. Everyday there were different things to do. The first day we took a paddle boat up a river and that was very fun! saw beautiful homes along the river, bush pilots, went to a special camp where we were introduced to caribou, how leather was used and how the salmon were caught and smoked.

We went to Husky Homestead on the last day as an excursion It was fantastic. Jeff King, a four time winner< told us about the dogs and the Iditerod. We also got to see how they train them and hold puppies. We would definitely recommend this trip to anyone. I would do this again.

We spent 6 hours in Denali park, going quite a ways in on a school bus. We saw grizzly bears, moose, caribou, various birds and red foxes.
We really liked the little towns we stopped in, especially Talekenta. We had some misty rain, some sunshine. Since we like the countryside, we were not so impressed with Anchorage. We learned how vast alaska is. Simply amazing.

It was a perfect way to start our trip. then we got on the boat we had a day of cruising so time to rest.
