Visit a Unique World War II Museum
The National Museum of the Pacific War is dedicated to telling the story of the war in the Pacific during World War II is run by the Texas Historical Commission and the Admiral Nimitz Foundation. The museum is associated with the Nimitz Museum and consists of displays dedicated to the Pacific Combat Zone, a Veterans Walk of Honor and Memorial Wall, Plaza of Presidents, George H. W. Bush Gallery and a Japanese Garden of Peace.
Enjoy Historical Farms and Their Continual Fruits
President Johnson had a deep attachment to his ranch and Texas heritage, he owned over 1500 acres here. The LBJ Ranch was where he was born, lived, died, and was buried. After the President’s death in 1973, Lady Bird Johnson continued to live at the Ranch part time until her death in 2007. The ranch opened to the public in 2008, and tours of the ranch grounds and buildings are available.
Beyond the Ranch, the Wildseed Farm is known for its beautiful wildflowers, but it has other attractions, too. The gift shop is packed with wonderful things, especially for the Christmas season. Pleasantries at Enchanted Rock State Park
Enchanted Rock is a granite outcropping up in the Texas Hill Country. Families enjoy the park as well as rock climbers, hikers and Boy Scouts. There is a nice hiking trail around the rock, some rock fall caves and a small tablet regarding a Texas Ranger up near the top.
