Fujairah is one of the seven United Arab Emirates. There are a variety of options when traveling to and around this coastal region, so do your research and plan ahead.
Getting to Fujairah
You can get to Fujairah by car or bus by traveling from Sharjah to Al Dhaid for about 50 km along the E611 national road. From there, travel to Masafi, which is approximately another 30 km along the E18 road. Your next stop will be Fujairah, 30 km away along the E89 road. If you follow this route, the whole trip is about 110 km.
Bus service in Dubai is regular, cheap, and safe, but once you arrive in Fujairah, there are no regular buses traveling around the area. Don’t expect to find conveniently located bus stops to transport you around Fujairah.
You may want to consider hiring a car or motorbike for transportation while in Fujirah. You can hire a car or bike at an international care hire office. If you do plan to drive, be aware and safe, as locals are known to be aggressive, fast drivers.
The road conditions in the area are well maintained. You can expect to see two lanes of traffic traveling in both directions. Note, however, that if you are traveling to Diba Al Hisn during your stay, you’ll have to use the E88 national road when making the turn into Masafi. Here you’ll notice that the road has only one lane traveling in each direction.
A Final Note About Train Travel
There are no trains in any region of the United Arab Emirates, so if you’re researching all available modes of transportation, don’t expect trains to be an option.
