Missing travel? GlobeIn’s subscription box brings the world to your home each month. Each month, you’ll get a box filled with ethically sourced home-goods from around the globe.
Rather than getting mass-produced items you can find in any store, the GlobeIn box features items designed by artists from around the world — and includes a booklet telling their stories. My GlobeIn box included a gorgeous pair of stemless wineglasses, and I got to learn about the artist Jesus Sandoval’s incredible process for making them (including how he makes the tropical colors of the glass through a cool glassblowing technique).
My box also included a beautiful hand-block printed napkin, a stunning glass pitcher, and two adorable palm-woven baskets, all of which looked extremely expensive. The GlobeIn box includes around $150 worth of items, but it only costs as little as $33 a month for a yearly subscription. GlobeIn is currently running a promotion offering 50 percent off your first box (on three-month subscriptions), bringing the price down even further.
Out of all the subscription boxes on the market, GlobeIn is my new favorite, because it supports local artists around the world. In addition to promoting the work of small artists, GlobeIn also runs an Artisian Fund, which raises donations to support the communities that they work with, so it’s a great company to support with your shopping dollars.
