Now that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending double-masking, finding ways to make your mask more comfortable is more crucial than ever. These seven hacks can help prevent the glasses fogging, dry eyes, and ear pain that can come from wearing a mask for long periods of time.

Use a Breathe Right Strip

Suffering from dry eyes or foggy glasses from wearing a mask? Try sealing the top of your mask to your face with a Breathe Right Strip. Use one to secure the bridge of your mask to your skin, which blocks air from escaping (a common cause of dry eye or glasses fogging). The Breathe Right Strips are more comfortable to use than regular tape, since they’re designed to be used on skin and shaped to conform to your nose.

Try a Mask Bracket

If you struggle with sucking your mask in to your mouth when you’re breathing heavily or talking, a mask bracket can make a world of difference. This small plastic piece hooks on to your mask’s straps, and keeps the fabric away from your mouth. Mask brackets are also great if you’re having skin irritation or breakouts as it keeps the fabric off of your skin as well. 

Wear Ear Saver Straps

Spare your ears from being pulled on by mask loops all day with a mask extender like these Ear Saver Straps. Simply hook your mask straps to the ear saver and you can wear your mask around your head rather than over your ears.

Use a Face Mask Headband

A face mask headband can be an even more comfortable solution to the ear tugging problem. These headbands look like a normal fashion accessory, but have two small buttons on each end that you can attach your mask to and spare yourself any strain.

Add a Nose Bridge

Have a mask without a nose bridge? You can buy nose bridges separately, which stick on to fabric masks to make them fit better. A well-fitting nose bridge is essential if you want to prevent glasses fogging while wearing your mask.

Use an Anti-Fog Spray

Wear your mask and sunglasses simultaneously and still be able to see with this anti-fog spray. It works great on sunglasses, regular glasses, and even ski goggles so you don’t have to choose between staying safe or being able to see. 

Protect Against Chafing
