Passengers on Hawaiian will now pay $10 for the first checked bag on flights between the islands. The fee takes effect September 4. As is usually the case with new fees, first-class customers, elite-level frequent flyers, and military personnel are exempt.
Hawaiian already charges $17 for the second checked bag on interisland flights, as well as $15 and $25 for the first and second checked bags, respectively, on flights between Hawaii and the continental U.S.
Go!, Hawaiian’s main competitor on interisland routes, already charges $10 for the first checked bag and charges $17 for the second as well.
