Places You Must See

The temples and the museums are all must see places, though there are some “off the beaten path” inclusions. The Hong Kong Museum of Medical Science is one that is often missed. The Flagstaff House Museum of Teaware is also something to see, and is home to tea paraphernalia, some over 1,000 years old.

Eating and Drinking

When you want unusual attractions, it’s important to look at this in the food and drinks that you order as well. Chinese food is everywhere, though you want to try some other things, like sweet soups and noodles. Fo Tan is an area on Shan Mei Street you want to visit at night when all the restaurant stalls are out. Shat Tin Chicken Congee, rice porridge, whole roast pigeons, and more. Double decker buses will take you directly into Fo Tan.

Day Trips to Outside of the Area

Ferries are a great way to get to some areas just outside of Hong Kong. This includes being able to get to Cheung Chau and Lantau Island. If you enjoy hiking, there are plenty of ways to see nature without being bombarded by other tourists. On the hills of Kowloon is Lion Rock, which is known to watch over Hong Kong. You can also walk from Ngong Ping to Tung Chung. It’s also worth it to visit Lei Yu Mun, a coastal village made famous by their seafood. A boat is the best way to get to the area near Lam Tin.
