Israel What To Pack
Israel is one of the cradles of human civilization. Before heading out, there’s a few things you need. Keep in mind the varied climate, you’ll be doing lots of walking, and the religious customs before you leave.
Bring a backpack or rucksack along. It’s easy to carry when you are out and about, especially if you are using public transportation.
From the hills to the shore, Israel is a place with a varied climate. During the winter it may even snow briefly. Summers tend to be very hot while evening temperatures can fall quite rapidly. You want to adjust for this change. Bring a bathing suit, sandals and shorts if you planning to hit the beaches. Bring warmer clothing for the evening including a light jacket. Keep in mind the interior is colder than the rest of the country and plan accordingly.
Visiting Religious Places
Israel is home to many major important religious places. If you plan to tour them, you need to have the right clothing first. Many places make it mandatory for men and women to cover themselves before entering. Men should bring long pants; women should bring skirts. Both genders should bring long-sleeved shirts and some kind of head covering. Even if you aren’t headed to religious sites, keep in mind some neighborhoods in Israel have deeply conservative dress codes. These will typically be posted on the walls. If you are going to walk there, it’s a good idea to dress like the locals.

Other Things You Might Need
Many people find the Waymarked maps useful. These are detailed maps that can be found in many Israeli stores and even purchased online before you leave. While they are in Hebrew, they contain numbers in English and provide detailed topographical information. This is a good backup to have on hand in case your iPhone fails.
Bring sun protection because the sun is very strong. A hat is a good as is a folding umbrella. Sunscreen is also a must. You’ll probably be a doing a lot of walking if you plan to explore an Israeli city such as Jerusalem or Tel Aviv. A good pair of walking shoes is a must.
