Jakarta is the largest city in the Republic of Indonesia, as well as its capital. Considering how many tourists visit the region every year, it should be no surprise that there are many shops and stores at which visitors can go shopping.
The Mall of Indonesia is an average sized mall with the convenience of a complete line of shops, just like any other mall. Surrounding it are a number of mid to large sized condominiums of towering heights. The mall is located just at the front of the Nice Garden Condominium, where people can stay during their time in Jakarta. The Mall of Indonesia is very nicely decorated, clean, and never too crowded. This makes it possible to have a long, but not too tiring, day of shopping.
Senayan City Mall is perhaps the biggest and newest mall in the city, and it is full of name brand stores. Its size can be a little overwhelming, but fortunately it keeps a complete directory of its stores online. At this mall, you can buy practically anything, except for Indonesian souvenirs or handicrafts.
Yet another mall in Jakarta Is the FX Mall. One consideration to take into account when choosing a hotel is the availability of restaurants in its vicinity. Those who stay at the Atlet Century will be glad to know that the FX Mall is less than five minutes away on foot. There are lots of restaurants that serve both Western and local cuisine. There are also plenty of modern conveniences, such as ATM machines that accept Cirrus or Visa cards, a Starbucks branch, a grocery store, a barber shop, and even a spa. They even have a giant slide that takes you from the seventh to the second floor, for a small fee, of course
Small markets and stores can be found all throughout Jakarta. A small shop located at expat area, Kemang, sells Asian art and decorations. It’s a great place to go shopping for home decorations. There is also a market named Pasar Pramuka that visitors may want to consider. This market has two buildings. The first, located at the front of the market, sells all kinds of medicine. There is also a doctor’s office and small hospital on location, which is something to keep in mind when traveling in the area. The second building is located toward the back and sells all kind of birds. This place is for bird lovers, as you can find almost any kind of bird, from the typical to the exotic, here.
