Therefore, nightlife in the city of Jiddah doesn’t consist of the clubs and bars westerners think of when they think of nightlife. Instead, there are great restaurants and other food options.

Things to keep in mind

Saudi Arabia is a conservative country, so women should wear an abbeya and at least a headscarf. Men need to wear long trousers. A man should always escort women.

The Corniche

The Corniche is a pier on the ocean. After the Maghreb (sunset) prayer, the Corniche springs into life, with Saudi families dining al fresco. Picnicking is a favorite local hobby and is regarded as an ideal opportunity to get together for a family chat and a substantial supper. You can either bring your own food, or vendors with handcarts roam the beach, selling candy floss, fizzy drinks, and spicy chickpeas.

Coffee shops

There are some roofless coffee shops where you can enjoy the beautiful weather that is winter in the city. Winter in Jeddah is like spring in other countries. People enjoy playing cards in those particular places and smoke Shesha, the traditional water pipe.

Billiards and Bowling

There are lots of pool and bowling halls in Jiddah. Only men are allowed, but pool and bowling are very respected social activities between friends and brothers to catch up, or just to pass the time in the evening in a social way. There are billiards and bowling centers everywhere, and if you want to meet locals, you can find your local billiards center, much like finding your local pub in other places.
