Some are innocent just wanting to sell you a keepsake item like sand in a bottle. Others make claims about the healing powers of the Dead Sea in exchange for a small tip.

The other danger at the Dead Sea is the water itself. If you stick your shoes in the water, they will likely be ruined. So, either don’t stick your shoes in the water, or bring an extra pair! Also, don’t try to swim in the Dead Sea. If you do, you’ll end up with a mouth full of very salty water. Instead, lie on your back and float in the water.

Jordan has beautiful cities like Amman and Petra to visit. But, you need be careful when driving, walking, or touring. It is better to be safe than adventurous in a foreign country, especially when modern life is shoehorned into this historic land.
