The ultimate climax of the trip on the KKH is the Khunjerab Pass, which is at an altitude of 4,733 meters (15,620 feet). It is one of the highest paved road connecting Pakistan Northern area to China western provinces.

Miar Lake

On your way to Miar Peak, you will come across Miar Lake. It’s a beautiful sight and a rest place for trekkers on the way to the peak. The lake is getting bigger each day because of the constant melting ice.

At Berichikor you can rest or socialize with other groups before setting out on the very long & tiring trek up the mountain. Drink as much water and as many hot drinks as you can. Butter tea is the best. From Berichikor, you can trek up the Miar glacier to Miar Peak. The zigzagging route up the steep mountain is tough going, and there are times you may wonder what on earth you are doing paying for such torture, but after climbing further up, the brilliantly white Miar Peak comes into view, and the pain of your aching muscles disappears at the sight of this spectacular work of nature.

Barpu Glacier

From Nagar Village, 75 miles from Gilgit, along the Hunza River, you can trek toward the glacier from Rush Lake. Barpu glacier winds down toward Nagar Valley like a highway. From there you can descent into Barpu Valley and the camp next to the Barpu glacier at Chokotans. The camp has small streams, springs and a lot of juniper trees.
