Transportation in Palma de Mallorca Local Buses
Palma de Mallorca is the largest town on the island, and is very well served with public buses, which is a great thing as the taxis are quite expensive.
The Palma number 1 airport bus has a reputation for excellent and reliable service every 15 minutes. On arrival you walk out of arrivals and the bus stop is well signposted and easy to get to. This is the most cost effective of all options and much less expensive than a taxi, you can save a bit of money by using this excellent service.
Buses around Palma are also easy, frequent, and cheap. One can download a map from the website and it is quite easy to find your way around. You need to have a car and you will be able to use the buses to go to Cala Mayor, Porto Pi shopping center and S’Arenal. Most routes are a fixed fare and maps, which are at all bus stops, are easy to read.
TIB, the local bus agency will take you nearly everywhere you could wish to visit on the island, in their comfortable yellow and red buses. The longest ride possible, from end to end, is only 75km and will take no more than about a half an hour to get there. The prices ranges from one euro to 10 euros, depending on your destination.
All of the bus lines stop working after 11pm, if you are planning to be back home before midnight, keep an eye on the time. After 11pm the “Night Bus” is a great option.
