Los Angeles is a very large city with no end of sights to see and attractions to visit. Take a look at some of the top must see stops that you should check out when you visit the city.

Walk of Fame

Nothing lets you know that you’ve arrived in Los Angeles – and Hollywood – quite like the stretch of Hollywood boulevard that contains the insets with brass stars commemorating some of the most famous celebrities in America. It’s well worth taking a stroll and checking them out.

If you’re looking for a specific celebrity’s star, there are websites that can give you the GPS and directions to the spot you’re looking for. After you’ve seen the star insets for your favorite celebrities, you may be interested in taking a celebrity home tour and checking out the homes where some of those same famous personalities live.

Theme Parks

In LA, you can visit theme parks such as Disneyland, Universal Studios, and California Adventure. These are perfect fun spots for a family vacation with the kids, or even for adults who haven’t lost their sense of wonder.

Be prepared for long lines and hot sun – bring plenty of sunscreen and use it liberally. It will be worth it to experience the impressive rides and attractions. Don’t forget to check out Downtown Disney, where you can catch a movie, see live performers, and visit busy nightclubs.

If you’re interested in the history of Los Angeles, you can’t miss the visit to Olvera Street. Olvera Street is where the roots of the city are located; it’s known as the birthplace of Los Angeles for a reason.

Shop in the open-air Mexican market and enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine at one of the great restaurants in the area. If possible, try to visit Olvera street on a weekend. That’s when you can take in live Mariachi music and other cultural and musical events.

Getty Museum

For artists and art appreciators, the Getty Museum is not to be missed. Not only can you browse the museum’s collection of great artwork, they have places set aside where aspiring artists can set up their own easels and practice drawing. There are also gorgeous gardens to wander through, and games and creative toys to occupy the kids.

If you have the time, you can make a whole day of your visit to the Getty Museum.  They have an excellent restaurant, casual café, and picnic areas on the grounds, so it’s easy to get lunch there. Don’t forget to stop in the souvenir shops before you leave.

Chinatown

If you love Chinese food, this is the place to get it – it’s by no means the only area in LA where Chinese food is sold, but it’s where you can find the best and most authentic dishes. Chinatown is also a great place for photo opportunities and shopping, and there are some amazing art galleries in the area.
