Lucerne is such a beautiful place to shop. While strolling down the streets with their airy squares you’ll enjoy the many shops and boutiques carrying all manner of exquisite wares, with something to suit everyone’s ones budget.
Both a shopping tip and tourist trap, the Bucherer store provides the customer with several floors of high-end (and not so high-end) watch brands and a floor or two of souvenirs and other items like Swiss Army knives, cuckoo clocks, crystals and other trinkets. This shop can be expensive, but it does provide the convenience of accepting most major currencies.
Casagrande Gift Shop
This is a large and airy shop which is chock full of souvenirs and gifts. It is easily identified by the wonderful figure outside. You will find anything you are looking for from a postcard to a cowbell. There are trinkets of all shapes and sizes. It’s a one stop shop when looking for things to take home to your family and friends.
Gubelin is one of Lucerne’s older watch sellers and they have an extensive range with Tag Heuer one of their flagships. The sales people are not too pushy though you won’t find may locals behind the counter.
There’s a small street next to the lake with plenty of open cafes, bars and restaurants. On this street, every Tuesday and Saturday the local market opens until afternoon. Get homemade Swiss cheeses, wines, farm fresh vegetables, homemade marmalades and much more, including small food stalls serving soups and bread. On a pleasant sunny, but slightly chilly, Saturday afternoon, a hot bowl of soup and a tasty baguette are delightful. There’s a fish market there on Fridays as well.
