Manila is often a jumping-off point for exploring other areas of the Philippines, although many people stay for a few days to explore, shop and enjoy the many beautiful hotels. If you are spending your vacation in the Philippines, it’s important to pack appropriately.
Manila What To Pack
Packing necessities are subjective, of course. There is no one packing list that is going to work for everyone, but the following are some suggestions that should be universally helpful.
Luggage
No matter what you have planned for your Manila adventure, these luggage options are ideal for a short or long-term stay.
What To Wear In Manila
The first thing you need to realize is that it is quite hot and humid, pretty much year-round. You will want to pack clothing that is appropriate for the heat, but that will also keep you protected from the sun. While it’s tempting to just pack a bag full of shorts and tank tops, you won’t necessarily want to dress like this the whole time. You’ll want some long-sleeve shirts and pants to protect you from the sun and from the insects, as well as something nice to wear out to dinner.
Sandals are the most logical choice but you should also bring one pair of tennis shoes in the event that you do any hiking or extensive walking. If you visit during the rainy season, you’ll want to bring a light rain jacket and umbrella. It won’t be cold, but it can get quite wet.

Other Necessities
Sunscreen, mosquito repellent and a hat or scarf are necessities. You don’t want to go out without mosquito repellent. Malaria and dengue fever are possibilities when traveling here, so take the proper precautions.
Electronics
Bring whatever you deem necessary, plus any chargers, cords and converters. You’ll want an extra SD card for your camera and phone, and it’s a good idea to bring your e-reader or tablet for relaxing. Consider a waterproof camera if you’ll be visiting the beaches. Snorkeling and diving are amazing here, so you’ll want to capture the colorful and abundant sea life.

Toiletries
While you can find most of what you might need once you arrive, it pays to bring your choice of feminine products because you may not find what you’re looking for in Manila. This is a common complaint among female travelers to Asian countries.
Bring some kind of day pack for walking around the city, hiking or any other type of sightseeing. It’s easier than lugging around a purse or tote.
This is not an exhaustive list, you’ll want to modify it to fit your needs, but it does cover some of the necessities you may forget. Of course, always remember to bring the proper documentation and funds for your trip plus emergencies. Traveler’s insurance is a good idea, too.
