For the most part, Myrtle Beach accommodations are large high-rise complexes with hundreds of rooms. Hotels along the Grand Strand offer easy access to free public beaches, usually have a pool or two, and offer plenty of ocean views. Another popular lodging option in Myrtle Beach is rental condos. Many high-rise “hotels” actually offer condominiums (instead of hotel rooms), sometimes with kitchens, living areas and multiple bedrooms. Depending on where you book, these can be rented by the week or by the night.
Alternative accommodations, such as bed and breakfasts or inns, are less common — you’ll probably have to head outside of Myrtle Beach to find a good selection of B&B’s.
Bed and Breakfasts
Serendipity Inn
Address: 407 71st Avenue North
Rates: $55 – $149
Word of Mouth: “Serendipity is a quaint, lovely, quiet retreat at the beach. It has a nice pool and Jacuzzi, and is only a few blocks from the ocean. The breakfast is continental style, but there are nice surprises of warm coffee cake, and hot egg, potato and cheese breakfast casseroles most mornings. The rooms are very clean and decorated in quaint styles. The owner, Phil Mullins, is always around to assist you.” — NarnieWilmington
Harbor House Bed & Breakfast
Address: 15 Cannon Street, Georgetown
Rates: $169 – $199
Word of Mouth: “My wife and I have visited the Harbor House for the past two springs. It’s a wonderful place in a wonderful location. … It’s close to the beaches, should you wish to head that direction. Or you can just sit on the veranda and watch the shrimp boats gently sway in the water.” — BedandBreakfast.com contributor
Moore Farm House B&B
Address: 3423 Highway 319E, Conway
Rates: $95 – $135
Word of Mouth: “Cathy and Harry were very prompt in answering my questions and helping me set up a massage and dinner. I am a coffee drinker, and Cathy made sure there was always a carafe filled with coffee for me. I grew up in an older house, and with the feeling of the house and the hosts’ friendliness, I felt at home the whole time. … If you want a nice friendly and comfortable place to stay in the Myrtle Beach area, this is definitely it. P.S. Whatever you do, do not pass up on Cathy’s cooking. I just wished they served dinner as well as breakfast.” — BedandBreakfast.com contributor

Hotels
Marina Inn at Grande Dunes
Address: 8121 Amalfi Place
Average Rate: $184 – $423
Word of Mouth: “There were daily activities to keep my 12- and 10-year-olds busy when they were not in the pool. The shuttle to the beach is prompt and easy. Initially I was looking for oceanfront but have to admit this was much better. We liked getting away from the crowds after our time at the beach was done. The hotel restaurant ‘Waterscapes’ is as good as it gets. You can cut the filet mignon with a butter knife.” — hiphop08
Sea Watch Resort
Address: 161 Sea Watch Drive
Average Rate: $94 – $328
Word of Mouth: “There are so many pools that I don’t think we even saw all of them during our one-week stay. The hotel is not new, but the rooms are clean, amply furnished and nicely decorated in a beach motif. The location couldn’t be better. It is located directly on the beach and is between Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach. There are many restaurants and stores within a short driving distance.” — karenofpa
Staybridge Suites Myrtle Beach Fantasy Harbour

Average Rate: $80 – $182
Word of Mouth: “We stayed in a one-bedroom suite that included a kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot and dishwasher; a living room with a fold-out bed (as well as a separate bedroom); and TV in the bedroom and living room. Make sure you take part in the ‘Sundowner Social’ between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. This social provides free food, beer and wine. The breakfast is a very nice surprise because it isn’t the usual continental breakfast. You actually get bacon, eggs, fruit, bagels, muffins, pancakes, etc.” — Fabulous48
Carolina Winds
Address: Oceanfront at 76th Avenue North
Average Rate: $45 – $325
Word of Mouth: “Each condo that we have stayed in has been tastefully decorated and has wonderful views of the ocean. Each visit we have been greeted and tended to by a most professional and caring staff. Housekeeping staff is very friendly and helpful. Large oceanfront pool is absolutely amazing. Small indoor pool was fantastic. All pools were in pristine condition. I witnessed the staff cleaning and checking the pools every morning before the pools opened up. Property also has a small lazy river.” — kim2193
Island Vista
Address: 6000 North Ocean Boulevard
Average Rate: $68 – $225
Word of Mouth: “The rooms are remarkable, beautiful furniture, and HUGE rooms and living spaces. Washers, dryers, full kitchens can’t be beat. We travel with two young children and grandparents, and there is so much room for everyone. There are TV’s in every room, and all oceanfront suites. The rooms are kept so clean, and we’ve never had one thing to complain about. I would definitely put this at the top of your list if you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Myrtle Beach.” — km3jones
Grand Atlantic Ocean Resort
Address: 2007 South Ocean Boulevard
Average Rate: $156 – $308
Word of Mouth: “Full kitchen, we could eat in very comfortably which is important when we’re on a budget. And the VIEW! We left the curtains open all the time. We could see the great view of the ocean from pretty much anywhere in the unit other than inside the bedroom. There were four chairs on the balcony, and the living room furniture was comfortable enough. Kids loved the splash pools and the lazy river. Beach access was pretty easy.” — blargoe
Sandcastle South Beach Resort
Address: 2207 South Ocean Boulevard
Rates: $82 – $206
Word of Mouth: “Great hot tubs. Great parking. Good area. And the best part was the price. I couldn’t afford much as I am a young traveler and this was my very first vacation without family, and I got a great deal. When booking, check their specials on their Web site! Overall great place to visit.” — britt24
