The city of Naples is one of the most visited in the entire southern Florida. Visitors here will find warm water, great shopping, lots of places to play golf, and incredible opportunities to enjoy nature
Naples: Things To Do
The city of Naples offers a pleasant combination of relaxing shore activities and a lively town center. If you like the sun and water sports, this a great place to stay.
Barefoot Beach and The Naples Pier
Barefoot Beach is the major beach in the city. Over eight-thousand feet long, it’s ideal for stretching out and has several resorts you can stay in all year round. The water here is not too deep, perfect if you just want to dip your feet in. Walk to one end and you might see dolphins frolicking offshore. You can also go fishing on the pier or just watch the sunset. If you’d like to go fishing in deeper waters, it’s possible to hire a boat for the day.
Shopping and Wildlife
Two other popular activities here are shopping and watching wildlife. Shoppers will find plenty of upscale stores in the 5th Avenue South Shopping District. Many people like to spend the day at the beach and then come here at night. The streets are well lit and offer a lot of cafes and restaurants where you can sample the local seafood. The Old Naples part of the city offers elegant older buildings and many art galleries with streets full of sculptures. Just south of Naples lies the Big Cypress Preserve. Acres of land have been set aside for the public in this park and you can take a boat tour that will bring you through the regional swamps and cypress strands. In Naples you can also expect to see plenty of wildlife. Various species of large herons are often seen in town and on the area’s beaches.
