Two things I have never done! Visit NYC in January and leave without seeing a Broadway show. There ARE other things to do there. We had reservations at the Roosevelt Hotel and we loved it. The rooms are spacious by NYC standards. I found the staff friendly except for the reservation desk employee I spoke to several times to get information on airport transportation. Location is great!
January is not the month for outdoor activities in New York City. It was a little uncomfortable to walk in the cold but not unbearable. One of the places that stands out for me on this trip is “Don’t Ask Momma” restaurant and piano bar. Get there around 9 o’clock. That is when all the fun begins. Serendipity3 was on our list for this trip and I am so glad we made it. The Frozen Hot Chocolate was worth every calorie. They even had a Frozen White Chocolate. If you ever had snow cream as a child you will love this.
We set out to find tickets to a show on Monday morning but were told that Monday was not the best night for Broadway shows. It is the night the understudies perform to give the “stars” a night off. Makes sense. We did purchase tickets for the New York Comedy Club from a person at Times Square. I wasn’t sure if it would be any good or not. It was fabulous. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Not just one comedian but several. If you didn’t like one just wait and your type of humor would show up eventually.
NYC in January? Yes, it can be fun.
