That industry has died off a little bit, but the city is still going strong. It is home to one of the best football franchises in the history of the NFL and some interesting regional food. Carnegie Museum of Natural History
The Carnegie Museum of Natural History is the biggest museum in the city. It is most famous for its expansive collection of dinosaur skeletons and even provides a great area for small kids related to this topic. If you and your family are at all interested in natural history, this museum is a must-see while you are spending time in Pittsburgh. It is an especially great place to go if there is some bad weather going on.
Point State Park
The Ohio River runs through Pittsburgh. Located along it is the Point State Park. In the park, you can get a great view of the river and the other two rivers who feed it and give Pittsburgh its nickname as the “Three Rivers City”. There are some historical points of interest in the park as well, including Fort Pitt and Fort Duquesne.
The Strip District
The Strip District is located not far from downtown in Pittsburgh. It is the home of the Senator John Heinz History Center. This huge history center is housed in an old ice warehouse and is dedicated to educated people on the history of Pittsburgh when it comes to innovation and industry.
