Frommer’s has just published Portable New Orleans, which it calls the “first fully updated post-Katrina guide” on the market. The book will be followed by an updated Frommer’s New Orleans, to be published next January.
Sometimes it’s easy enough to get away with using an older guidebook, but in the case of New Orleans, outdated information can pose a bigger problem. I haven’t looked through it yet, but judging by the book summary, this guide addresses both the effects of Katrina on the city and the gradual rebuilding, and offers practical information about what’s closed, what’s open, and how best to get around.
