An upscale cruise line tired of being confused with a lower-end hotel chain, Radisson Seven Seas Cruises has changed its name to Regent Seven Seas Cruises, effective immediately. The line’s owner, Carlson Companies, hopes to align its cruise product with its upscale Regent Hotels.
Armed with its new name, the cruise line will aspire to new heights in luxury cruising. Programs such as Regent Travel Concierge and Circles of Interest will help travelers customize their cruise experience. Regent will also invest in updating suites with Egyptian-cotton linens, new mattresses, cashmere throws, luxury bathroom amenities, flat screen TVs, and iPod music systems. These physical changes will begin in mid-April.
It remains to be seen if travelers will still confuse the cruise line with the popular salad dressing.
