One of SmarterTravel’s favorite travel gadget companies, Scrubba, just launched a new version of their incredibly popular travel wash bags. The new version is called the Scrubba Wash Bag Untouched, and is available for preorder on Indiegogo.
What is the Scrubba Untouched?
The Scrubba wash bag is the “world’s smallest washing machine”. It’s a lightweight, packable, and easy-to-use bag with a built-in, flexible washboard. To use, you simply load it up with your clothing, add water and detergent, seal the top, press out the air through the valve, and rub the clothing against the washboard for between 30 seconds to three minutes (depending on how dirty your clothes are). Rinse, and hang dry, and you’ll have a machine-quality wash without having to spend your vacation sitting in a laundromat.
What Makes the Scrubba Untouched Different?
The Scrubba Untouched has all the same great features as the original, but is made without using bleach or dyes. The new model is made in a more eco-friendly manner with a reduced environmental impact.
If you preorder the Scrubba Untouched, it’s currently cheaper than the original model ($43).
How Does the Scrubba Untouched Measure Up?
Ease of Use: 10/10
Ever tried to wash your laundry in a hotel sink or shower? It’s a mess that doesn’t produce a clean-feeling result. The Scrubba Untouched is super easy to use, letting you do laundry in minutes.
Cost: 8/10
At $43, the Scrubba Untouched is a better value than the original Scrubba Wash bag, which retails for $55. It also saves you a significant amount of money compared to doing laundry on the road.
Portability: 10/10
The Scrubba Untouched folds down to pocket-size, and weighs just 5 ounces, making it easy to pack (even if you’re backpacking). Despite the portable size, the bag can wash a decent amount of clothing at one time (like two shirts, two pairs of underwear, and two socks).
Scrubba Untouched Pros:
- Eco-friendly: Saves water and energy both in production and while using it; made from TPU, a more sustainable material than PVC
- Contains no harmful dyes
- Resists microbial growth
- Completely waterproof
- Packable
- Easy to use
- Doesn’t need electricity and only requires a minimal amount of water to use
- Doubles as a dry bag
- Saves money and time on doing laundry
Scrubba Untouched Cons:
- Requires small amount of manual labor (rubbing the clothes against the washboard)
