Where to Catch It

You can catch the Sentosa Express Monorail by heading toward VivoCity, the largest shopping mall in Singapore. To reach this mall, take the MRT and get off at the HarbourFront station. Then follow the signs to Exit E and go to the third level to find the departure point at Lobby L.

How to buy

You can order your ticket online up to three months before your ride at the Sentosa Fun Online Store. However, you’ll need to exchange the online confirmation receipt for tickets at VivoCity. You must also show the credit card you used for verification.

You can also buy your ticket at VivoCity when you’re ready to depart by using the automated ticketing machines. Travelers on the Singapore Airline Stopover program get a free ticket to the monorail.

Your monorail ticket already includes admission into Sentosa Island.

How to Use the Monorail

Wait behind the glass doors until they open and board the two-car trains. The system has four stations: Sentosa (where you started), Waterfront, Imbiah, or Beach. You’ll need to take the lift or stairs to get to ground level from the station.

The entire ride takes eight minutes and travels 2.1 km. Your ticket entitles you to get off and board the monorail all day. The ride offers nice views of the island through its large windows and its air-conditioning makes for a pleasant way to escape the heat and humidity.

While the monorail is a quick way to cross the island, it does not bring you to every attraction. So you’ll need to consult a map, which is available online, in a brochure, or posted at strategic locations, to determine what station to get off on and then connect to the Sentosa Bus, the Sentosa Beach Tram, or the Sentosa Line, which is a cable-car system. Except for the cable cars, these forms of transportation around the island are free.
