Stones

As the name suggests, these beaches are made up of pebbles and rocks instead of sand. They aren’t comfortable on bare feet, so the natives wear plastic jelly shoes to the beach. You can wear any type of full beach shoe, but flip flops aren’t recommended. You can buy a beach mat at most stores, and some beaches rent chaise chairs. If you would like to avoid the stony beaches, you can go up the coast a bit to Juan les Pins or Antibes. These beaches are sandy instead of rocky, but they are generally more crowded than the stony beaches. The best time to visit is early in the morning before they get crowded.
