A new website is serving up travel inspiration by spotlighting famous festivals around the globe. Fest300, which launched this week, features of a curated list of world-class festivals selected by travel editors. In line with the site’s name, 300 festivals are highlighted with photos, editorial reviews, and practical planning tips. It’s kind of a bucket list of iconic gatherings and cultural events.
This best part about this first-of-its-kind website, in my opinion, is its montage of beautiful, vivid images depicting the events. It’s a gorgeous visual snack. And it makes a person want to pack his or her bags.
Why all the fuss about festivals? According to Fest300 Founder and Editor in Chief Chip Conley, “Given the momentum of growth in festival culture around the world, there’s a nascent movement afoot. …I’ve experienced ‘collective effervescence,’ the positive experience of losing oneself in a group ecstatic moment, in my travels from Bali to Brazil to Burning Man. But, when I looked for a place that documented the most diverse, iconic gatherings and spectacles of our time, there wasn’t one. We’re creating that place at Fest300.”
The site asks travelers to “take the pledge” and commit to attending at least one festival this year. Whether you want to run around naked or do something a bit more refined, there’s a festival for you or, maybe, near you.
Check out the site’s curated list of the so-called best festivals on earth here. Do you agree with this list? Have anything to add?
