Sailing Excursions to the Whitsunday Islands and Whitehaven Beach
There are many different fun activities available on Airlie Beach, with a day out sailing the Whitsundays to Whitehaven Beach is a popular highlight. A small bus will bring you to the marina where you can buy tickets prior to boarding. The stop at Whitehaven Beach is always a highlight as the beach is one of the top ten in the world and it is easy to see why. The charter will dock and you can explore the island, snorkel or swim before returning back to Airlie Beach.
Another option is to take an overnight trip that will provide access to more of the Whitsunday Islands than just Whitehaven Beach. Trips are generally three days and two nights, and you will have the option to sleeping inside or on deck as you cruise the beautiful islands (famous for its magnificent snorkeling locations and spectacular island nisits). There are three meals served daily and coffee and tea available all day along with a variety of snacks. The charter will also provide linens, fresh towels, snorkeling equipment and stinger suits. You will need to bring your own alcohol, swimwear and sunscreen. Many of the charters are limited to only 25 people and the atmosphere is relaxed and calm.
Reef Fishing
If you are a keen angler, what could be more fun that getting out and doing some serious fishing? There are charter companies that offer trips to the reefs from Airlie Beach, mainly based in nearby Abel Point Marina. There are several options, from half and full day trips up to seven day excursions. Fishing equipment is only supplied for day trippers, which is something to bear in mind if you opt for the seven day trip. The fishing boats will also provide the opportunity for you to enjoy snorkeling and diving. Please note that there is also a small marine parks fee per person.
