Alaminos Things to Do
Alaminos is a city in Pangasinan, Philippines, that is a launching point to the 100 Island National park, which is a popular tourist destination. There are more than 100 islands, and they are all small, so you could explore several in a single day. Here are things to do in Alaminos.
Lucap Wharf
The Lucap Wharf is the literal launching point for the 100-plus islands. You can see some of them from the wharf, and if you climb up the lighthouse, you can see more of them. This is a favorite for photographers.
Natural World
With all the islands, you would expect a lot of water related sports. There is snorkeling, and you can see big clams, and even touch them. Fish feeding is related to snorkeling, and there is diving as well. There is of course swimming, and on one island you can dive into the water from a cliff. Kayaking and fishing are also popular. While on the islands you can take up bat watching or spelunking as there are a lot of caves.
Developed Islands
Governor’s Island is the “tallest” of the islands, and from here you can see a lot of other islands. There is a short climb to the top as the island itself is not much larger than the others, but once there you have a spectacular view. This is one of three or so developed islands, meaning you can get supplies here. Quezon and Children’s Island are the other two developed islands. Quezon is the most developed and crowded, but it is a popular picnic and kayaking area. Children’s Island gets its name because the water is more shallow, and safer for small ones.
Exploring
Hire a boat, and the boat operator will also likely be your guide. You can visit as many islands as you wish. There is a lot of natural beauty as the coral is big and gorgeous. Caves abound, and there are natural arches as well on the coastline of several islands. Most of the boats go to the three developed islands, but you can hire a boat to go to the others. One cool one to visit is Cathedral Island, which is small but the rock formations make a dome that you can enter with your boat.
