Naga City Things to Do
Naga City is an historic beach and religious city located in the Philippines. There is so much culture to experience in this part of the country due to its location and year-round warm climate.
Climate Makes for Great Vacation Spot
Naga City stays warm throughout the year, even during the winter months. This makes the city a desirable tourist spot, especially if you want to escape cold climates. And, you can enjoy the water, especially learning how to ride a wakeboard and walking along the beautiful sandy beach.
Plenty of Churches to Visit in Naga City
Naga City has numerous churches to visit and admire the architecture. Included is the historic San Francisco Church, where only the bell tower of the old building remains. You can also visit the Holy Rosary Minor Seminary, which was built in 1785. Though it has undergone renovations since then, the building has retained its distinct colonial style and ambiance.
You can also look at historic religious artifacts at Our Lady of Penafrancia Museum. The museum is located by the Naga River since the museum also serves as the garage for a massive boat that carries Our Lady of Penafrancia for the fluvial parade.
Fluvial Parade
In the month of January, the entire region surrounding Naga City joins together for the Fluvial procession down the Naga River.
Locals and tourists wait for hours along the river banks to catch a glimpse of the parade. Then, a group of colorful boats becomes visible late in the afternoon filled with people celebrating local icons. People start to wave their hankies, light their candles, and shout, “Viva La Virgen!” If you visit this region of the Philippines at the beginning of the year, you will want to catch this annual event.
Other Things to Do in Naga City
Naga City’s nightlife comes alive at Avenue Square. This strip center offers many things to do, such as restaurants, other dining places, music bars, lounges, and even a beauty salon. Avenue Square is pleasing to the eyes and the hippest thing in town. It’s not as posh as the strip centers in Manila and other cities in the Philippines, but it’s a fun place to go in Naga City.
You can find similar things to do on Magsaysay Avenue. This is a trendy nightlife district that offers dozens of cool restaurants and bars. It’s quite cosmopolitan with sophisticated eateries and other nightlife diversions. A few of the places were former homes that were transformed into a dining establishment.
Overall, Naga City offers plenty of things to do for tourists and local residents. You can enjoy fun in the sun on the beautiful beaches, visit an historic church, and enjoy local cuisine at nighttime.
