Old Orchard Beach: Things To Do
Old Orchard Beach is a popular beachside vacation destination. But there are plenty of other things to do in this charming town besides go to the beach…although you won’t want to miss that, either!
Visit The Pier
The first Old Orchard Beach Pier opened to the public in 1898. Throughout the years, it’s been destroyed by storms and fires on different occasions, but it’s always been rebuilt. Today’s pier offers a selection of souvenir and novelty shops, along with bars and restaurants.
Check Out The Amusement Parks
Aquaboggan, Maine’s biggest waterpark, is just a 10-minute ride away from the beach, in Saco. Funtown/Splashtown is Maine’s biggest amusement park and offers a wide variety of kiddie rides, family rides, and thrill rides, while Palace Playland is located right next to the beach, so you can go for a ride, cool off in the waves, and go back for more rides!
For more low-key recreation, try Pirate’s Cove miniature golf. It offers two 18-hole miniature golf courses.
Spend A Night On The Town
Before you get to Old Orchard beach, check out what’s happening during your visit. During the summer there are free concerts in the park, plus fireworks every Thursday night. September brings antique cars, bike festivals, music festivals, and more.
Annual Sandcastle Contest
Come enjoy a parade and band concert with line and square dancing. Fun for the entire family!
Hit The Beach
Old Orchard Beach offers 7 miles of soft sand, which turned this little town into a popular seaside resort as early as the 1850s. It’s a nice place to walk, swim, relax, and people watch. Access to the beach is free at all times.
