Regina Things To Do
Regina is the capital of Saskatchewan, Canada. Visitors can tour the legislative building, browse the museums, and take in the natural beauty of Wascana Park.
Legislative Building
Regina is the seat of government for the Canadian Province of Saskatchewan. The legislative building is free and open to the public. Before you leave on your trip, check online for operating hours.
Museums, Theatre, Art Gallery
Regina is also home to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Academy. On the grounds of the campus, tourists can visit the RCMP Museum. If you want to learn about the history of the city, head to the Saskatcewan Provincial Museum. Perhaps the most popular stop is the Royal Saskatchewan Museum. For a small fee, you can see exhibits that tell the story of the native people, and you can observe artifacts and fossils that have been excavated here.
After the museums, checkout the Globe Theatre. The Globe hosts live performances and concerts throughout the year. Tickets are relatively affordable, but they go fast for certain events. The McKenzie Art Gallery is a fantastic spot for the art lovers in your group. Its collections include paintings from Canada, the United States, and Europe. The exhibits change, so go online to see what they’ll be showing when you’re in town.
Wascana Centre
Wascana Centre is a sprawling park that surrounds Wascana Lake. The park covers more than 2,500 acres and is filled with trees, flowers, and plenty of space for your little ones to run around. The Legislative Building, Wasacana Water-Fowl Park, Royal Saskatchewan Museum, and the University of Regina are all located within the park.
Bison
Wascana is one of the few places in the world where you can still see bison. Outside the city, the animals live in a wildlife refuge. You can take pictures, but don’t get too close. Millions of bison once roamed this part of the world and were a staple of native people’s diets for centuries.
