Zeebrugge Things to Do
Zeebrugge is located on the North Sea and is connected to the city of bulges via an expressway giving it a central location on the Belgian coast. Visiting Zeebrugge – Europe’s largest fish market and port – will quench your adventure with its rich history, outstanding seafront resort with hotels, a marina, a beach, cafes and you will easily find a free car park.
Visit the Zeebrugge Seafront Exhibition Site
You may think that the site is located on the seafront but, on the contrary, it is found within the docks near the marina. At the fisheries museum, you will learn of the Great Russian Foxtrot and West Hinder Lights.
Visit the Russian Submarine Foxtrot
This amazing feature is a 100-meter long steel colossus which shows how the 75 crew lived and worked in a very confined situation. The foxtrot comprises of four compartments highlighting the crews’ lives abroad.
Visit the Residence Palace
The residence palace which was formerly the Palace Hotel is an impressive, iconic building located at the corner of the seawall.
Take a Walk Along the Seawall
The marvelous Zeebrugge seawall cannot be compared to any other coastal place in Belgium for it is easy to access and friendly to even the disabled. It is calm, relaxing and apart from a few cafes to feed your stomach the shops are few and less crowded.
Visit the Monument of St. George’s Day
This monument from the 1st World War is situated at the foot of breakwater with a stroll along the beach. There are multiple viewing platforms with benches to give you a unique view of the coastline, where you can simultaneously enjoy the sea, the beach, and activities of the port.
Visit the Fishermen Cross
Zeebrugge is the largest fish market in Europe. If you haven’t visited the fish market or the buildings of the former fish market which were transformed into a huge maritime theme park, you will have to visit the fishermen cross which is a tribute memory of the more than 150 crashed fishers of the East Coast.
Experience Rederskaai and the Marina
If you love watching boats and ships, this is the place for you. Take a tour of the harbor or wander along the Rederskaai common as the ‘Shipowners Quay.’
