Hoi An Tourist Traps
The city of Hoi An is a noted UNESCO World Heritage Site and a place of historic significance. Unfortunately, it also has several tourist traps that you will want to avoid.
Tailors and Clothing
Tailor-made clothes are the biggest tourist trap in Hoi An, and a difficult one to avoid. The clothes on sell look fantastic and include flower embroidered themes crafted on silk. However, as many of the local will warn you, the quality can be poor. Despite the high price tag, the clothes do not last long and fall apart easily. In other cases, the tailors will create clothing that is far too tight and won’t reimburse you for the fitting. While you can go window shopping, it might be better to have your clothes purchased from more reputable sellers.
Beach Issues
There are girls who sell various souvenirs and other items along the beach. Unfortunately, many of these same items can be purchased in town for far less money. Any hope of getting a good deal requires a lengthy amount of haggling.
Also, the Cua Dai Beach itself isn’t the loveliest of beaches. There are multiple places where you can hit the shore, but Cua Dai is a place that’s only good to visit for a day. The sands and waters can both be a little dirty, making it a less than pleasant beach. Finally, there are many boat owners who will try and get you to purchase a boat ride. However, they can be fairly aggressive, which can turn into a hassle.
