Malaga Warnings and Dangers
Malaga is almost 2,800 years old and is the capital of the province of Malaga in Spain. If you are going to come to this ancient city for a visit, here are some of the warnings and dangers you should be aware of before you arrive.
Trail to the Gibralfaro Fortress
You have to walk a long way up to get to the top of the trail to reach the Gibralfaro Fortress. Only people in good condition should try to climb the steep 60-degree angle up the 400 feet of steps it takes to reach the fortress. The stairs are made of stone and tile and can become very slippery when wet. The stairs don’t have handrails to grab onto in case you start to slip and fall.
Beware of Pickpocket Thieves
There are quite a few pickpocket thieves that are active in Malaga. You need to be especially careful when around people selling flowers. They will try to foist flowers into your hands then demand 5 cents. This is done to confuse you as they pick your pocket. Also, don’t stop to help anyone unless you are 100% sure they are genuinely in distress. While you’re paying attention to their “play-acting”, a colleague of theirs will pick your pockets.
Beware of the Sun
Whether you are fair-skinned or not, use sun cream or lotion to protect your skin before hitting the beach. Remember, when in the sea or a pool, the water acts like a mirror and reflects extra ultraviolet rays back at you. Even if you are just walking around town, you can suffer from the sun’s effects. You should wear a hat or cap when walking around, especially is you suffer from hair loss, to protect the top of your head.
