Zimbabwe Warnings or Dangers
While Zimbabwe may not be at the top of the popular tourist attractions list, there are plenty of outdoor, recreational, and entertainment activities to choose from. And yes, like any large tourist attraction, Zimbabwe has its share of warnings and dangers. Tourists need to be aware of their surroundings at all times.
National Parks in Zimbabwe May Not Be Meant For Admiring
Animal lovers going to Zimbabwe might have Matetsi National Park on their list of attractions. However, this national park is also on the hunter and poachers list. The hunters and poachers on the other side of the border, where hunting and poaching is illegal, have no issue with practicing their craft in Matetsi National Park. The sentencing for poachers, once they are caught, is death.
Patrols have the ability and authority to shoot poachers on sight, making Matetsi National Park a dangerous place to be. If you must explore Matetsi National Park, you must be aware of your surroundings at all times.
Tourists in Zimbabwe Should Be Aware of Health Concerns
Zimbabwe has one of the highest HIV infection rates in the world. One in three native people in Zimbabwe are infected with the HIV virus. Needles should not be shared with anyone in Zimbabwe. Should you be looking for a “casual” relationship while you are visiting Zimbabwe, you should take the proper precautions.
Malaria is also a widespread concern throughout Zimbabwe. If you are planning to visit Zimbabwe, you need to take Malaria precautions starting 24 hours before your visit. You should sleep with a mosquito net around your bed, or in a tent that has been mosquito proofed. Frequent use of mosquito repellant is important. You should also wear long sleeved shirts, long pants, and socks when outside in Zimbabwe at night.
